Environmental Internship Program

Jump start your environmental career while serving Pacific Northwest communities.

For over sixteen years, the Environmental Intern Program has placed individuals throughout Washington and Oregon with leading public lands agencies and community based non-profits such as the U.S. Forest Service, Fish & Wildlife, Department of Natural Resources, Cascade Land Conservancy, Underwood Conservation District, and many others. Interns restore watersheds, recruit volunteers, organize public education events, and much more in the pursuit of managing natural resources in a sustainable and ecological manner.

Along the way, Interns develop professional skills and build career networks. They gain practical experience in an exciting field. They make long standing friendships with others in the program. They improve their communities. And it all takes place within one of the most scenic regions in the country!

Interns come from all walks of life but share a common goal: the desire to advance their career in the environmental arena while engaging in service to their communities. While each position varies in its requirements, there are some constants:

• A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study and/or practical work history
• A demonstrated ability to work in a professional environment
• A willingness to learn from people and experience
• An enthusiasm for community service
